New Delhi: It is being speculated that President of United States Joe Biden will soon be making an announcement regarding the purchase of NASAMS. It is a Norwegian-made anti-aircraft system which is a medium to long-range defence system.
The United States use the same system for the protection of airspace around the White House and the US capitol. The National/Norwegian Advanced Surface to Air Missile System abbreviated as NASAMS is developed by the Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace (KDA) and Raytheon.
The US will be providing Ukraine not just with the NASAMS but an additional aid which includes more ammunition for Ukrainian artillery and counter-battery radars. This provision of these aids will strengthen Ukraine’s efforts to counter Russia on the ground, and majorly against the assault of the Russian in the Donbas region.
The next segment of financial aid to Ukraine is all set to be released by Joe Biden which amounts to $7.5 billion out of the total $40 billion military and economic aid package which was signed by him last month.
