ARY News informed that a case has been registered against the former Senior Superintendent of Police on this matter. Citing sources, ARY News reported that the former policeman has also been made an accused in another case. Quoting police officer Amjad Ali, the media reported that he was on regular patrol when he saw the two sides fighting with rods and stones.

Earlier, a CCTV footage quoted by Geo TV showed that a woman wearing a burqa was misbehaved with an unidentified man in the country’s capital Islamabad.

According to Geo TV, the incident took place during the day in which a woman covered in a burqa, while walking on the road, an unidentified man came and started misbehaving with the woman. Significantly, reports state that more than 70 percent of women in Pakistan are victims of workplace harassment.

Data collected by White Ribbon Pakistan, an NGO working for women’s rights, shows that 4,734 women have faced sexual violence between 2004 and 2016. Recently the Government of Pakistan has passed and amended the ‘Protection against Harassment at Workplace (Amendment Bill), 2022’. The proportion of total working women in Pakistan has increased in recent years, but the country is grappling with the issue of psychological, physical and sexual harassment of women.

Due to the incidents of sexual violence, it has become a challenge for women in Pakistan to work in workplace and common places.
