HUGS AND HANDSHAKES! PM Modi Meets Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy For High-Stakes Talks

PM Modi reached Kyiv early morning today and met Ukrainian President at the Martyrologist Exposition in Kyiv.

New Delhi: In a historic meeting, PM Modi hugged and shook hands with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday, August 23. He is currently in Kyiv and it is his first-ever visit to Ukraine. PM Modi reached Kyiv early morning. He met Zelenskyy at the Martyrologist Exposition in Kyiv. Sharing the pictures of his arrival on X, he wrote, “The Indian community accorded a very warm welcome.”

Modi and Zelenskyy also honored the memory of children at the Martyrologist Exposition in Kyiv. Both leaders are scheduled to hold significant delegation talks with each other, with a focus on bilateral cooperation and settlement of the Russia-Ukraine Conflict. PM Modi traveled via Train Force One to Kyiv.

PM Modi On Resolving Ukraine’s Conflict

PM Modi recently visited Russia and held talks with President Vladimir Putin to put an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Modi’s last meeting with Volodymyr Zelenskyy was marked in June at the G7 summit in Italy. He spoke to him in the conference and assured him that India would support Ukraine and make way for peace and settlement between Russia and Ukraine. He conveyed to Zelenskyy that India would play the role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine as it believes in a ‘human-centric’ approach. During the summit, the Ukrainian President invited PM Modi to visit war-torn Ukraine.

PM Modi held discussions with Polish PM Donald Tusk on August 22 and said that ‘dialogue and diplomacy’ will help in restoring peace in Ukraine. He also stressed the fact that the loss of lives of innocent people is the biggest challenge to the whole of humanity.
