Tensions soared in Los Angeles for the second consecutive day as the protestors and immigration authorities continued to face off. The demonstrations that were held in the city of Paramount came a day after armed immigration authorities conducted workplace raids in different areas of Los Angeles. The action by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation prompted angry crowds to carry out protests, leading to arrests on Friday.
Trump Warns, “Federal Government Will Step In”
According to reports, a large crowd gathered midday at Paramount’s 6400 block, blocking traffic. Amid escalating tensions in Los Angeles, Trump took to his ‘Truth Social’ handle on Sunday, June 8, highlighting ‘the Federal Government will step in.’ He warned, “If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!”‘

California Governor Expresses Concern
A few minutes after Trump’s response, California Governor Gavin Newsom tweeted, “The federal government is moving to take over the California National Guard and deploy 2,000 soldiers. That move is purposefully inflammatory and will only escalate tensions.” He further stated, “LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need. The Guard has been admirably serving LA throughout the recovery. This is the wrong mission and will erode public trust.”
